How to maximize the lifespan of your vegetables

Have you ever wondered why your freshly bought vegetables spoil faster than it suppose to? First of all its all thanks to the thing called Ethylene Gas. Ethylene Gas is the gas produced by fruits and vegetables while they ripen. It's highly contagious so one rotten apple leads to four.

Some vegetables are better off packed in the fridge, some are stored best in room temperature. It's also better to store fruits separate from vegetables. Carrots, potatoes, broccoli and cabbage are better stored in a dry plastic bag or container in the fridge. Onions and garlic can be stored at room temperature away from the sun.

If you will not cook your vegetables any time soon, you can freeze them. This is an easy method to preserve its freshness for later use.
